Review PDF/UA 2009-105 Agenda

Approval of 2009-104 Minutes

Ekholm / Soiffer

Address Action Items

DJ: Working group had discussed the requests that were approved at the previous meeting. No need to also address ISO 32000 for Hamburg.

BF: US caucus on Sunday night could be an opportunity to add an item.

DJ: Then there is an opportunity to add non-linguistic content for Hamburg.

LR: Could be problematic.

DJ: Okay, let's look at some of the other items PDF/UA business under Action Items. Line numbering item removed as language was drafted and submitted for ISO 32000 consideration.

NS: There is also the issue of how to tag "nothing" such as redacted content.

Detailed discussion of how to specify redactions in an accessible matter. Attributes for redaction tag?

Change justification to reason for the redaction tag.

Conforming readers shal make available to dimensions of objects tagged with structure type Redaction.

Parasemantic Tags

CE to look into providing candidate descriptions for Container Elements.

Container elements

Container elements are the highest level of element and provide hierarchical grouping for other block-level elements.

Document
Document element. The root element of a document’s tag tree.

Part
Part element. A large division of a document; may group smaller units of content together, such as division elements, article elements, or section elements.

Div
Division element. A generic block-level element or group of block-level elements.

Art
Article element. A self-contained body of text considered to be a single narrative.

Sect
Section element. A general container element type, comparable to Division (DIV Class=“Sect”) in HTML, which is usually a component of a part element or an article element.
CE to also look at Nonstruct tag too.

Artifacts

PDF/UA does not presently include a section on artifacts, although we did ask 32000 to expand on the capabilities of artifacts to make them meet accessibility needs, if accessed.  Should we address artifacts by type?  Should we address any impact on a conforming reader, if any, above and beyond existing statements?  And so on.

Artifacts are an issue in the conforming reader section where it says Conforming Readers shall make available artifacts when not present in the structure tree

LR: "Shall make available artifacts." is a sufficient statement for 5.3.1 provision 3

DJ: Has updated the action items page.
